Summary: super - a program to allow normal user to perform root tasks |
Super is a setuid-root program that offers o restricted setuid-root access to executables, adjustable on a per-program and per-user basis; o a relatively secure environment for scripts, so that well-written scripts can be run as root (or some other uid/gid), without unduly compromising security. It is different from sudo in that super's configuration file lists commands then the users that can run them while sudo's lists users then the commands that they can do. NOTE: the binary install will NOT install a /etc/super.tab file, this file MUST be written for your system's needs; examples are provided in /usr/doc/super-*. Philip W.
